It’s time for some more ChocoPro from Gatoh Move Wrestling. In today’s edition, Sayaka Obihiro & Sayaka will take on Eri Kanae & Chouri Shiryu (Sayaka replacing the unwell Chie), Tokiko Kirihara clashes with Ken Ohka and in our main event Mei Suruga & Baliyan Akki (BestBro’s) will take on Masahiro Takanashi & Hoshitango.
We begin the show with Mei & Akki who run down the show tonight (Suruga speaking Japanese and Akki providing English translation). They hype up the crowd bringing some wonderful joy as we jump into our first match.
Eri Kanae & Chouri Shiryu v Sayaka Obihiro & Sayaka
Summary: Both teams introduce themselves and Baliyan Akki will be our referee for this match. Last week Obihiro, Sayaka and Shiryu all lost their respective matches so lets see who comes out on top this week.
The match begins with Sayaka and Kanae as we go straight into a lock up. Both women fight it out before Kanae manages to get a two with a roll up. Shiryu tags in as well as Obihiro, Shiryu works on the hands and legs before Obihiro locks in a bear hug. Both competitors try to build some momentum but they are pretty equal here, Shiryu finally gets an advantage with a back elbow and tags in Kanae.
Obihiro is double teamed as she is sent into the wall as splashed by Shiryu; Sayaka has to break up a camel clutch submission as Shiryu adds more pressure onto the head. This allows Obihiro to take control of Kanae, beginning an attack on the back. Sayaka tags in to continue this with a camel clutch of her own, even using Kanae’s hair to add more pressure whilst gleefully smiling into the camera.
Kanae is able to escape the pressure with a spear and a tag to Shiryu, he takes control throwing Sayaka first into the wall and then through the window, following up with a six one nine and impressive flying dropkick. Sayaka is able to regain some momentum with some tough shots and then a bodyslam before making the hot tag to Obihiro who nearly gets a 3 on Shiryu.
The match breaks down as Obihiro locks an arm breaker on Kanae and Sayaka locks in a walls on Shiryu. The duo are firmly in control till Shiryu hits a dropkick and Kanae fires up with spears, the last on Obihiro getting a near fall. The match ends in fast paced sequence where Obihiro manages to get the three with a roll up.
Winners : Sayaka & Sayaka Obihiro By Pinfall.
Stitch’s Rating: 3.75/5 Choco’s This was a really good fast paced opener that had some really great wrestling. They went for a more technical approach here and it worked really well. Obihiro really looked good here and went all out, this was my first viewing of Eri Kanae who I thought was also excellent, an exciting start to the show.
Tokiko Kirihara v Ken Ohka
Chouri Shiryu is our referee with Kirihara entering first and Ohka second to a big reaction, we start with an handshake before the lock up. The lock up concludes with Kirihara being thrown into someone’s lap in the crowd. It’s a tight opening with neither really getting any meaningful control until Ohka hits a bodyslam in the middle of the mat.
The two exchange chops and kicks before Kirihara is body slammed into the mat and Ohka readies his cheeky counter. The two then exchange rest holds before Ohka locks in a chin lock until Kirihara forces the break. Kirihara begins a fightback with stiff strikes and kicks sending Ohka to his knees, once again he manages to cut her momentum with a stiff strike.
Kirihara once again fights back with the kicks getting a near fall with a kick to the chest, she sends Ohka flying into the wall before getting another 2 count with a kick to the chest. The two are both grounded as Kirihara hits a leg sweep after getting a two. The match ends as Ohka steals a win rolling up Kirihara who had the arm breaker applied for the three.
Winner: Ken Ohka.
Stitch’s Rating: 3/5 Choco’s. This match started slower before really finding it’s groove, the story was simple here as Tokiko Kirihara would just not give up against the experienced Ohka, she gave everything and came so close but Ohka managed to grab the win. I really hope we see these two together again as this was great.
BestBros (Mei Suruga & Baliyan Akki) v Hoshitango & Masahiro Takanashi
Summary: It’s time for the main event now, Masahiro Takanashi will once again be facing off against BestBros, this time with Hoshitango as they look to get a win against the Asia dream tag team champions. Our referee is once again Chouri Shiryu.
Mei starts off against Hoshitango and gets some chances to showcase her comedy here, she can’t even get her hands around her giant competitor so goes for a test of strength, she then tries a kick instead but hurts herself. Akki tags in instead being easily overpowered by Hoshitango.
Akki then tries throwing both Mei and himself at Hoshitango but he doesn’t budge, this allows some trashtalking from Takanashi, who is attacked by Akki, while Mei manages to floor Hoshitango (well he sits on a crowd member) but is pushed through the window when she attempts an aerial attack.
Hoshitango and Takanashi are firmly in control now as they work on their opponents on the outside (Akki with Takanashi and Mei with Hoshitango). We get a stunning sequence where Hoshitango holds Akki whilst Takanashi lays in punches (to the theme of Eye of the tiger) before Mei saves the day riding a bike into both men, oh how I love Mei Suruga and oh how I love Choco Pro, where else would you see this?
Back in the building, Akki and Suruga finally take control and work over Takanashi, Hoshitango tags in and immediately floors Akki with strikes against the wall. Akki very nearly gets Hoshitango on his shoulders but the big man reverses, and he manages to drop Akki with a huge clothesline before tagging in Takanashi. Takanashi is met by Mei who lays in multiple hits to the face before Akki hits a standing moonsault.
We now get a ‘We Willl Rock You’ clap as Hoshitango tries to splash the BestBros against the wall. After moving out the way they manage to pick up a win after Mei jumps onto Akki who is clinging onto Hopshitango, Hoshitango then falls onto Takanashi who is finally pinned by Mei.
Winners: Mei Suruga & Baliyan Akki.
Stitch’s Rating: 3.5/5 Choco’s. A solid main event that worked so well for what it was there for. There was some simply hilarious moments such as Mei riding a bike into Hoshitango & Takanashi as well as some good wrestling. The match was built round utilising the size of Hoshitango and that payed off really well. Once again Mei shined and is truly a star, a really nice main event.
Janken Tournament: In our favourite rock, paper, scissors tournament Mei beat Kirihara, Sayaka beat Kanae, Ohka beat Obihiro and Takanashi beat Akki. Next Mei beat Shiryu and Kanae and Takanashi beat Ohka. Finally Mei Suruga beat Takanashi to once again win the Janken tournament.
Mei Suruga wins the Janken tournament.
Final Thoughts: A really enjoyable show that delivered really really good matches, I thought this was slightly better than last week (and I loved last week) with so much to like. They provided some really good wrestling whilst adding their unique style. I was particularly impressed with Sayaka Obihiro, she just shines in these tag matches, I can’t wait to see more of her. Final rating: 4/5 Choco’s.
